The EU ReSkillSpan project is a pioneering initiative aiming at fostering transversal skills and innovation within the research community in Europe. As one of the key partners in this project, we at Young Entrepreneurs in Science are committed to promoting entrepreneurial empowerment and innovative ideas from research. In this blog post, we will introduce ourselves as a partner in the EU ReSkillSpan project and explore our role and contributions to the initiative.
About us
Young Entrepreneurs in Science was founded in 2018 under the roof of the Falling Walls Foundation to promote an entrepreneurial mind- and skillset within the research community in Germany. Through a series of workshops on entrepreneurial skills and creativity methods, tailored for doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers, we aim to encourage researchers to explore alternative career paths as entrepreneurs or intrapreneurs, thereby initiating a paradigm shift in the scientific community. By imparting entrepreneurial know-how through 16 different workshop modules, we have conducted nearly 250 workshops, reaching over 4,000 participants from more than 110 partner universities and research centers in Germany. Our key competencies and skills
We bring a wealth of expertise to the EU ReSkillSpan project. Our key competencies include:
- Training and moderation skills: Expertise in facilitating workshops and training sessions that foster entrepreneurial thinking and acting.
- Project management in the NGO sector: Experience in managing projects within the non-governmental organization sector.
- Knowledge of the target group: Deep understanding of the needs and challenges faced by doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers.
- Creativity and innovation methods: Innovative approaches to problem-solving and idea generation.
- Awareness-raising approaches: Effective strategies for raising awareness about entrepreneurial opportunities within the research community.
Our role in the project
Our responsibilities within the project team include leading the implementation and pilot testing of the training courses and personalized learning pathways. We are actively involved in testing and validating the mentoring scheme and impact projects creation, ensuring that these components meet the highest standards of quality and effectiveness. Additionally, we oversee the recruitment of participants, onboarding, and matchmaking processes, as well as the delivery of the Train the Trainer workshop for partners. We are motivated to contribute our expertise in project management, workshop conceptualization, and evaluation of the activities to the success of the EU ReSkillSpan project, fostering innovation and transforming research careers across Europe.
Our hopes and expectations
We aim to gain new perspectives, ideas, and approaches from other project partners and the European research community, creating opportunities for internationalization and joint forces. We are excited to learn about ways of international cooperation, scaling up our vision and mission beyond German borders.
